Mishka Balilty has performed in theater and film in New York, L.A., and Toronto. Most recently, she had lead roles in the films Suburbanite and The Paris Syndrome, and the TV series Daughters of Eve, in which she played Mary Magdalene. Ashlea Wessel is a first time filmmaker and award-winning photographer hailing from Toronto, Canada. Ashlea’s still photography work has been described as “cinematic” and her unique aesthetic translates seamlessly into the medium of narrative film. She is inspired by the weird and wonderful; the things only unearthed from the darkest corners of the imagination. INK is Ashlea’s first film in the role of writer and director.
Alex is a talented Producer and, more recently, Electric. After attending Brock University in their Film Studies program, he finished his education in Television Writing and Producing at Humber College. His recent work in film and television includes Maps to the Stars with David Cronenberg,11.22.63, and Covert Affairs to name a few. Alex returns to the Producers chair for INK.
Since graduating from York University and studying at the University of Southern California, Ryan Knight has lensed feature films, commercial television, documentaries, short films and music videos. His work has been distributed and broadcast internationally by many networks, including ABC, TMN, CBC, Global Television, HGTV, History and Discovery Channel, the Speed Network, Much Music and digitally on iTunes, En Route, Virgin Mobile and Yahoo!. “Whichever medium fits the story is the right path to choose. It’s all about knowing your craft and pushing the tools of the trade”. Whether a director wants to capture the images with DSLR cameras, ENG or EFP set-ups, in RAW data with RED or Alexa cameras or even on celluloid, Knight is ready for a plethora of photographic scenarios. “As DPs, we realize a director’s vision with a precise combination of art and technology”. Other achievements include two short films in worldwide distribution and numerous film festival official selections, awards and nominations. Adrian is an award winning composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist with a background in both music and fine art. Canadian by birth, he grew up partly in Germany where his father played french horn in the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra. This musical environment and the rich dramatic tradition of the opera shaped his passion for storytelling early on. He went on to study classical and electric guitar as well as visual art, and eventually found his calling as a screen composer, a profession which utilizes his visual, dramatic, and musical sensibilities. Adrian first came to note with for the music of the hugely popular Canadian Screen Award nominated series Out With Dad. Recent feature film credits include his hybrid score for The Scarehouse (D Films/NBC Universal), the dark, orchestral Definition of Fear (directed by James F. Simpson (Merchant of Venice) and featuring Bollywood superstar Jacqueline Fernandez). He works in the burgeoning world of web-series, most recently producing an award winning electronic score for the sci-fi noir series Haphead. Television credits include themes for Discovery’s Daily Planet (2010-14), huge orchestral cues for The CFL and International Hockey (TSN), as well as work on Canada’s long running morning show, Canada AM. Adrian is the Vice-President of the Screen Composers Guild of Canada and a regular speaker at international events and festivals including TIFF and Hot Docs.
